I Have A Medical Reason to Not Wear Bras

And it feels pretty good.

I have always had sensitive skin — I was allergic to sunscreen and some deodorants as a child, and in college I broke out in hives multiple times.

Doctors said my college hives were due to stress, and they seemed to be right — The hives resolved themselves.

However, my sensitive skin issues have returned. Since March, I have had symptoms of Dermatographia…aka “skin writing.” If anything scratches me or digs into my skin…even slightly…I develop a huge welt.

The rash resolves itself in minutes as long as I don’t scratch.

Like my hives in college, there’s no set cause…I am hearing the usual advice of “drink water” and “relax” and “try yoga” (I’m a yoga teacher, so I got that covered).

Lotion helps, antihistamines help, too.

My triggers are heat, so I have to take cold showers, and I avoid anything that digs into my skin.

Including bras.

So now, I only wear a sports bra when I’m exercising and I want my titties bolted down to my chest so I’m free to turn or jump or prance.

I also have some bralets which don’t cause me to break out into hives.
