I evaluated this “social media site” so you know what you’re not missing.

I am a liberal person. I believe most people are basically good.

However, I also believe that even a small number of people acting erratically and maliciously can mess a lot of things up for people. I helped moderate two social media sites for six years…one of them a dating site…and I decided to sign up for Parler just to see what it was like.

I’m going to live react this experience for you.

Parler says it won’t “deplatform” me for my views. Hmm. That’s an interesting choice of words…Does this mean they have no banning capabilities whatsoever? Seems impossible.

Parler also boasts “viewpoint-neutral policies.” I wonder exactly what that means — If I call someone a “bitch” versus a “poopy-head,” are those considered…equal insults? What is considered a “viewpoint” exactly?

At signup I have to give my phone number.

A little invasive. Capcha is a little confusing, honestly. This is not super user-friendly for people who dislike moderation and sharing personal information online. I’m surprised at the barriers to entry.
